Hurricane Ike

This is the first time I've sat at a computer since the remnants of Hurricane Ike blew through on Sunday. It's the craziest thing we've seen around here in a long time. Literally, hurricane strength winds were recorded by the airport. And it went on for hours. It started around 11:30 a.m. and didn't quit until probably four. We are still totally without power, but we are lucky enough to have hot water. We also have our deep freeze plugged into an extension cord, run out our basement window, and plugged into a house across the street that still has power. My fridge is totally empty. Trees are upended everywhere, and most of the schools are out for the week (talk about ISTEP problems!). We're going to attempt to return to school tomorrow, but there may be a new glitch in the plans. It seems that Clarksville is only operating on about 60% water power and may be forced to shut down completely if things don't change. The boys and I spent last night at Mom and Dad's, because they finally got their power restored yesterday. Our phone is out as well. Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know we didn't blow away and that we'll be back in contact with the real world as soon as possible!
