Last Ballgame

It's been a little while since I've updated the blog, and it will be quite a while before I'll be able to again. I'm leaving Thursday to go to Hoosier Girls' State and won't be back for nine days. I'll have lots of fun stuff to add when I get back, I'm sure. While I'm gone, the boys are going to spend the week at YMCA day camp. They look forward to this every year, and for the first time they are old enough to take the field trip at the end of the week. They are so excited! Since Tony is on an "extended vacation" (as we've called it at our house), Sophie will probably stay with him.

This past weekend was so busy! Friday evening was buddy night at TaeKwonDo. Before hand, the boys had friends(their buddies) come over for a playdate and pizza. They were so excited to have friends over for the first time. After pizza, we took Andrew and Aidan along with Cole (Andrew's friend from preschool) and his brother Nate to class. Turns out, the only other student at buddy night was also a SAS preschool student. So, all three students and their buddies were SAS students. They had a ball! All of them are in the picture below except Andrew, because he said Aidan wasn't his friend and he didn't want to be in a picture with him. His loss.

Afterwards, Conner's mom invited the boys to go to Chuck E Cheese with Conner and Nolan. Nate and Cole ended up going as well, as did Aidan's best friend Owen. We also ran into three more preschool students. It was like a reunion. We had an awesome time and I was glad we went because we don't often get a chance to do things spur-of-the-moment with the other kiddos from school. Usually when they go somewhere, it's the middle of the day and I'm teaching. It was also Sophie's first trip to Chuck E Cheese, but I didn't take her picture (what was I thinking?).
Saturday was our last day of games (at least for the summer). There is some talk of a fall ball league, and we'll most likely sign Andrew up if it comes to pass. He's such a good player and as big as he is, I like to keep him active. Plus he LOVES baseball and he'll have to be good at something to support his parents in their old age.
Aidan was so excited to get his very first trophy. He kept telling us to be careful because it was "fragile" (it's plastic). Andrew's team is having a picnic Saturday, so he should get his trophy there.
Five of Andrew's preschool class of fourteen played Clarksville Little League this summer. Below is Wyatt, Andrew, Kara and Conner. Unfortunately, the fifth friend played a later game.
Saturday night, Tony and I went with an old friend, Jennifer, to Shakespeare in Central Park to see MacBeth. The play was okay, but I had a blast with Jennifer and we had a feast of homemade bread, cheeses, salami, chocolate, wine and belgian beer. Yummy!

On Sunday, we dragged ourselves out of bed for church. We had decided to go to St. Martin's for Mass for two reasons. First, Fr. Paul is home for the summer and he was celebrating the Latin Mass. Secondly, it was the feast of Corpus Christi and St. Martin's had a beautiful procession planned that we wanted the boys to be part of.
Sunday evening we celebrated Father's Day early, since I'll be gone to Girls' State and the Mom and Dad will be out of town as well. We had a great cookout - Tony did steaks on the grill. This week has been crazy so far with appointments and packing. I'll update as soon as I get back! Lots of prayers for safe travel and a safe week with my 600 girls!
