Christmas is coming!

This week has been unbelievably busier than most. It was mostly good, but also a little sad. Monday evening I had class and Tony was working out of town. Tuesday evening was the dinner in Indy (see the previous post). Wednesday evening we went to the funeral home. Our preschool aide and mother of my dear friend passed away somewhat unexpectedly. It was sad on so many levels, because my boys truly loved Mrs. Weathers, but we are also all very close to her daughter (my friend and colleague) and granddaughter. She was a wonderful woman and she will be greatly missed in our school, church, and family.

Thursday evening was our school Christmas program. Our music teacher did a phenomenal job with the kids. The kindergarteners were angels, and my first graders were stable animals.

Wings, halo, and recycled ghost costume from Halloween!

I love Andrew's donkey attire!

I was so proud of all my kiddos - Andrew, Aidan, and "my" first graders. They were so well behaved and sang beautifully! Despite many wonderful things this week, I haven't been so glad to see a Friday in a long time. I had a substitute in my classroom for part of the day three out of five days this week and we had something every single evening. We decided to have a little much-needed family time on Friday night. We started by heading to Bass Pro for their Santa village. We didn't get to take pictures with Santa because the line was too long (besides, we'd already had it done at Providence). However, the boys really enjoyed playing with all the different displays - target practice with guns and bows, sporting video games, remote control vehicles, etc. I had to drag all THREE boys away!
This is a completely random picture of Sophie that I took while the boys were being, well, boys. I love it because it captures what a truly...um...unique personality she has.
We left Bass Pro and went to eat dinner with Tony's mom at the Knights of Columbus. They had a great fried chicken buffet for Christmas. Then all of us headed to the Galt House in downtown Louisville. They have a life-size gingerbread village set up. It was completely amazing - and free. Everything was edible. Yummy!

We walked around the Christmas craft displays and looked at the decorations in the hotel. Then we drove around downtown to see the Christmas lights. By that time, everyone was sleepy and it was time to head home.

Today we had nothing on the schedule, but managed to fill it anyhow. Tony and the boys went to help his sister move, while mom, Sophie and I went shopping. I am now almost completely finished with my Christmas shopping and have a full pantry and fridge. Why is this important? Because it's going to SNOW tomorrow!

One week until Christmas break!
