Happy Fall!

After being out of town last weekend and a busy week, I thought I'd just post some of my favorite pics from the past couple of weeks that I never got around to sharing.

Sophie and Aidan are either best friends or worst enemies, depending on the day. Recently at bedtime, she asked Aidan to read her a story and he obliged. They didn't know I saw - it was too cute.
Sophie likes to make her own fashion decisions. Sometimes they're good ones, and sometimes I have to talk her down from whatever she's set her mind to. This was a good day:

Aidan's had a sub since the beginning of the year because his teacher has been out on maternity leave. The substitute has been amazing and Aidan will miss her. One of the projects they completed in science was making bird feeders. We dutifully hung it up, but I think it blew away before any birds ever snacked on it.
The first grade took their annual field trip to Huber's to learn about plants, pick pumpkins, and eat lunch. It's my favorite field trip of the year, and I'm glad I got to share it with Aidan and his friends this year.

Yesterday, a cold front moved through. We went from highs in the 80s to highs of 60 overnight. Of course, this morning we had the 8am soccer game. To top it off, we had pictures at 7:30. That's a.m. It was about 40 degrees. I kept Aidan bundled up until pictures and then yanked his coat off. It was cold and early in the morning.

After soccer, we headed to the Harvest Homecoming Parade. I LOVE the Harvest Homecoming festival. I've been in the parade almost consecutively since I was in about 6th grade. This year, Andrew was marching with the TaeKwonDo group. Aidan got to ride along in their float, too.
Sophie, Mom and I were invited to ride the with our American Legion post since we represent three generations of auxiliary members. Sophie was tickled because our vehicle was close to the queen's car.
Our ride was a big military vehicle. I can't remember what they called it, but the National Guard loaned it to us.

Tony was taking pictures from the street as the parade went by, so I'll post more pictures when I get them from the other camera. This evening, we were all worn out from the fresh air. We watched movies and made cookies.

Hooray for Fall!
