We've been MIA this week. It's a week I'd rather not relive again. Let's just say it involves three sick people, seven prescriptions in two days, and a gas leak.

Sophie started with a runny nose and cough, so I made an appointment Wednesday afternoon to take her to the doctor. During school on Wednesday, Andrew started looking puny and complaining about his throat. I decided we'd just let the pediatrician swab him for strep while we were there. Turns out, Sophie had a viral infection but Andrew was on the verge of pneumonia. Wow, what a mom I am! Bam, three prescriptions for two kids. Lucky for us, we own the nebulizer machine already, so that was one expense down. The last time we used it, we had to get a baby mask shaped like a fish, and Sophie thinks it's awesome to play dress up. Andrew hates it, as you can tell from the picture below.

Meanwhile, I thought I had the same thing as Sophie, so Thursday evening I ran to the little clinic. I was given an antibiotic and an inhaler - sinus infection and bronchitis. (prescriptions #4 and 5). I came home, took the medicine, and settled in to watch a movie with the kids. Next thing I know, I'm covered in hives. Apparently, I have developed an allergy to penicillian. New prescription for me, plus steroids for the reaction. That makes seven prescriptions, three trips to the pharmacy and two trips to two different doctors...in a 24 hour period, ya'll. Needless to say, I threw in the towel. I called a sub, and Andrew and I had a sick day together on Friday.
Meanwhile....when Tony came home Thursday evening, not only did he find me itchy and uncomfortable, he also smelled gas outside our house. He called the fire department who sent a large, flashing truck to our house around nine that night. They in turn called the gas company who indeed found a large leak out by the street. Luckily, they said we didn't need to evacuate but that it did need to be fixed right away. So, on our sick day Andrew and I got to watch this out the window:

We were lucky in a couple ways - 1) No evacuation; 2) It was their line, so we didn't have to foot the bill, and 3) They didn't end up digging up our driveway, which had originally been a possibility.
In happier news, we did have a good weekend in spite of the fact that Andrew needed lots of naps in between activities. Sophie enjoyed "Disney" week at dance:

And, she likes cheering on her Hoosiers:

We also had dinner with my father and Debbie to celebrate my birthday and Sophie's. She's thrilled with her new dress-up clothes, and I'm thrilled with my Amazon gift card for my Kindle (which is already spent).
Yesterday, the boys went to evaluations for baseball. I'm so excited by this - that means spring is almost here! We also got a few things marked off the to-do list today. We started painting the race cars for the Scout Pinewood Derby, and we cleaned out the fish tank and bought Aidan a new fish. More about both of those later.
This evening turned out unexpectedly pleasant. Tony and Andrew ended up walking down to watch the IU game with an elderly neighbor. Meanwhile, another neighbor needed a babysitter and so her kiddos came down to play with Aidan and Sophie. Happy kids, happy mommy. And, knock on wood, everyone seems to be healing.
I'm looking forward to my day off tomorrow! Happy President's Day!
