Tunnel Mill Scout Camp

This week was Cub Scout camp at Tunnel Mill.  Tony was on staff, so he and the boys camped there all week.  Sophie and I drove back and forth Monday through Wednesday, and then Thursday I headed to Terre Haute for Girls' State.  Because Tony and I were working camp, Sophie was eligible to stay in the "Pixie Cabin" with the other staff children who were not cub scouts.  She hated it and spent a lot of time crying, but I think in between she had a good time making crafts and playing outside.  You can tell by her face that she's not real sure about the whole situation.

The boys couldn't wait to get started!

Did I mention the boys of all ages were excited?
Tony and I both spent the week working with Webelos, or the 4th and 5th grade boys.  He was teaching first aid skills.  I taught some engineering requirements and forester techniques.  Totally out of my experience realm, but I had lots of good notes!

Meanwhile, the boys walked around with their cub scout den, participating in crafts, fishing, archery, shooting, etc.  The theme this year was "Cubs of the Round Table".

At one point, Tony and another staff member kept order in my "class" by shooting water guns at boys who gave correct answers.
There's always time for a dance break!

After the kids went home Wednesday, Sophie and I stayed to have one last dinner with Tony and the boys before I left for HGS.  While we were waiting, Sophie checked out the playground.

We also took a walk down to the creek.  The boys came down later, after we had walked back up the hill.  Aidan went wading by way of total immersion.  He apparently wanted to keep up with Andrew, who fell in the creek earlier in the day while fishing.
I'm so glad the boys and Tony have the opportunity to participate in such a great program, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to be part of it as well.
