PeeWee Baseball

It's been no secret that Aidan hasn't exactly loved baseball this season.  He wanted to play because everyone else was playing, but the minute the check was written he maintained that he never said so.  Ironically enough, he's actually very good.  Nevertheless, it's been a battle to get him to every practice and every game.  On Wednesday, his team played in the first round of the tournament and (by some miracle of God) beat the other team, thus moving forward.  To this point, his team had won two games this season.  Anyway, the second tournament game was tonight and (not unexpectedly) the Indians lost.  What was unexpected was that they went down swinging.  Five innings and the final score was 4-0.  Aidan had a solid double and even made it home, although it didn't count because the batter was out at first.  Then, he managed to help make a play from the outfield.  He was ecstatic, dancing to every base and then dancing some more in the outfield.  Where has this child been all season?  It was a rare occurrence for him to make it all the way home - he has had some very good hits but always gets out at first or second.  I'm glad he went out on a good note and - I can't lie - I'm glad his season is OVER!

In other news, the kids and I made strawberry jam, homemade fruit roll ups and dried strawberries today.  Ignore my dirty oven.  Aidan and I ate both trays this afternoon.  So much for preserves!
