Happy 4th!

I'm exactly one week late posting these, but since we're getting ready to embark on a camping adventure I thought I'd better get caught up!

We have a tradition on the 4th of July of going to Mass with Tony's grandma and then having donuts in the parish hall before walking downtown for the parade.  Nothing says patriotic like a star shaped donut with red, white and blue sprinkle!

When we settled in our seats, Sophie put on a little show for us while we waited for the parade to start.  She thought it was awesome that she could dance right in the middle of the street!
 Here comes the parade!
Tony has recently been appointed to the tourism board, and I'm hoping that it will get me a chance to ride the Segway.  During the parade, I decided that I should be the tourism board's mascot WHILE riding the Segway.  How cool would that be?
When the TKD group came by, Mrs. Nuckols brought a board over for Sophie to break.  She did it!
Cub Scout Pack 48 was the last unit in the parade.  They carry, as they call it, the "ginormous" flag.  Aidan's picture was in the paper this year.  You can see Tony right behind Andrew's head.  He's wearing his campaign hat - the best Christmas gift I ever got him!
After the parade and naps, we had a cookout at our house.  Our dessert celebrated Memaw's 80th birthday!  She's a firecracker baby.
It's been so hot and dry that my firefighter husband didn't want to chance setting off any firecrackers at home.  Instead, we watched the fireworks in D.C. on t.v. and then went back to downtown Jeffersonville for the fireworks on the river.  We sat on the floodwall and had a pretty good view.  The boys were so excited - we've never brought them to see the fireworks on the 4th before.  (Once you've seen Thunder Over Louisville, everything else is kind of anti-climatic).  Sophie, on the other hand, was not at all happy to be there.

One of my projects this spring was to make a couple of little dresses for Sophie.  Through a series of mishaps, I started and stopped the first one more times than I can count since April.  Well, Aunt Connie sent me an extra sewing machine she had and between my mom and Aunt Linda, we got it figured out.  Now I'm a regular crafty girl!  I've only completed one dress, but it went so quickly once the machine was working that I think I could have done it in a couple hours.
Watch out, world!  I have several other projects in mind already!

Friday is Tony's birthday, but we're going to be camping.  We celebrated with Mom and Dad on Monday instead.  Mom didn't have the numbers for "34", but she did have 34 candles!!!

Stay tuned for pictures from our adventure this weekend.  It's supposed to rain, so I'm sure the pictures will be quite entertaining!
