Snowmaggedon 2010

Last night when I went to bed, there was nothing happening, weather-wise. By the time Tony got home around 11:30, it was snowing hard. I had trouble sleeping because I knew there would be some kind of weather call this morning, and I kept getting up to check out the window. I got my cherished phone call about 5:45 and promptly went back to bed. When Tony and I got up around 8:30, we immediately headed outside to start shoveling his car out. He had to be at work by noon, the temperatures were supposed to drop, and the snow wasn't scheduled to stop any time soon. The kiddos went out with us to play. When we started, there were four inches of snow. I took pictures before any little footprints messed up the landscape.

Tony started shoveling and scraping while I dressed the kids and took the dog out. The dog loved the snow as much as the boys. Sophie still wasn't into getting bundled up.

While we were outside, the snow continued to fall. In fact, we shoveled part of the driveway three times. Tony shoveled until he had to go to work, and then I took over and he took the kids inside while he got ready.

Tony left and made it to work without too much trouble. The kids and I ate waffles for brunch, played, and took naps. After naps, I went out and shoveled new snow off the driveway. Then we had leftover chili for dinner (yummy!). The boys worked on their Valentines and I made cookies and hot cocoa. Tony got to leave work early because of the weather and he was home in time to enjoy our treat.

The grand total of snow as of four pm was six inches. However, the weather report is not so great. We may pick up 1-2 inches overnight, plus the temperatures are supposed to be subzero. All the slush on the roads is turning to ice. So, many of the school districts around have already closed. We probably won't have a decision until morning, but I'm betting on a delay. The snow day today will cost us our day off on President's Day, but I was so glad that we had a snow day on a Tuesday - no class for me at UofL. If we're off again tomorrow, check back for more snow pictures!
