Growing up

We had a good weekend, and for lack of any other theme to string these pictures together - growing up seems to cover it.
This morning, my mom and I put on a preschool story hour/parenting workshop at St. Anthony. We had a pretty good turnout - nine kiddos - and we read several stories, did a craft, and had a snack.

The growing up part of this story? Miss Sophie. The workshop was geared for two-to-five year olds, and guess who's turning two on Wednesday? She really enjoyed being part of the action.

Aidan is also growing up before my eyes. He's always been such a little munchkin, and never wanted to grow up - just like a lost boy from Peter Pan. He was determined to never leave preschool, but he has finally decided that kindergarten might be okay (after 100 days of school). In fact, he says he's never leaving kindergarten now. He has learned so much this year, and he adores getting to go to the special area classes. This video is of a song our wonderful music teacher has worked on with all the primary classes. How many kids do you know that can recite the names of the 12 apostles?

And finally, on the subject of growing up, we went to a commissioning/send off party for my friend Krishana today. Krishana and I have been friends since birth, although recently she's been all over the map while I've been firmly planted in Clarksville. She and I grew up together, and were at each others' homes more than our own until high school. After several setbacks, she is on her way to Austria as a missionary. You can follow her journey on her blog (look for the link to the right of this post). I'm so lucky that she's one of those friends that I can go months without seeing and pick up with just like we were together yesterday.

Since later this week my baby turns two, you can bet there will be more pictures to come!

To this day when I want to remember the names of the 12 disciples, I sing that song! But that would not be news to me kids. I remember everything better in song.
