Sophie had her first tee ball practice today, and that's what this post is all about. But first, a moment of pure bliss - meet my new niece! Sophie was enthralled and the picture was too cute not to share. Okay, on to baseball.

Sophie has talked about nothing but playing baseball since last season when the boys played. She's had her new pink bag packed with her pink helmet, pink glove, pink bat, and pink batting gloves since she got the equipment on her birthday.

She was totally ready to go! Luckily, the weather today hit a record high of 82 and sunny, because all three kids had practice this evening at different times. Sophie looks like a complete ragamuffin because she'd been playing outside all afternoon.

She spent the first 15 minutes of practice in the dugout. The team was running the bases and she didn't want to. Then when it came time to get out her glove, she was ready to participate.

She loves her pink water bottle almost as much as she loves tee ball, so she needed lots of drinks. Like every two minutes. In her defense, it was hot out. But she wasn't exactly doing anything to work up a thirst.

She hit the ball off the tee and ran the bases like she was supposed to.

I know this picture is blurred, but I love her little stance.

Here's a very short video of her running to base. I have a longer one of her actually batting, but most of it involves shots of the ground and a conversation between me and her coaches about whether or not she was a lefty. Apparently she'll be batting as one. Anyway, I didn't want to subject you to that video because the first four minutes would make you dizzy and I don't know how to edit it.
Andrew also had his first practice on the field tonight. He was out in the corner practicing pitching, so I couldn't really get any good pictures.

Andrew, Sophie and I came on home for baths and bedtime. Meanwhile, Aidan's team ended up with a late practice time and he and Tony are still at the field.
