When everyone got back home, we played outside for awhile after dinner. I put the batteries in the bubble machine that the kids got for Christmas. It was good for a lot of fun! First we had to wait for the machine to "prime" since we'd never used it before.

Spring Break 2012 - Day 1
We stayed busy the first weekend of spring break with dance class, baseball practice, and a delicious chicken lunch at our local American Legion. One special event for Sophie was her very first "big girl" birthday party. It was the first time one of her friends had invited her to a party all by herself - no boys allowed. The girls put on makeup and had manicures and drank sparkling strawberry drinks out of pink champagne flutes. Needless to say, she thought she was hot stuff!
Although we couldn't take a big trip like our trip to DC last year, we have little plans for every day this week. Today, Andrew went scouting for turkey and deer with Papa. So, my mom and I took Aidan and Sophie to Waterfront Park in Louisville. I've written about this amazing park before, but I absolutely love it. There's about six playgrounds within walking distance of one another, plus the view of the Ohio River. The walking trails are peppered with benches and swings. It was a gorgeous day and we went early enough to have the park to ourselves for awhile.

Along the path, there's also a memorial to Lincoln. Of course, we had to stop and visit!
After playing at the park, Mom took them all home with her so I could get some dissertation writing completed. After almost four hours of straight quiet time, I submitted my first three chapters to my adviser for review. She's going to check it and we're going to meet next week. Then I'll get to make revisions one more time before submitting it to my entire committee on May 1. We're hoping that I'll be able to defend my proposal by mid-May. Then I'm good to actually complete the study during the next school year, analyze the data and write the last two chapters next spring and be ready to defend my dissertation a little over a year from now. Whew!
When everyone got back home, we played outside for awhile after dinner. I put the batteries in the bubble machine that the kids got for Christmas. It was good for a lot of fun! First we had to wait for the machine to "prime" since we'd never used it before.
