Easter Weekend

We had a busy weekend! Besides being Holy Week, it was also opening weekend at the ball park! On Holy Thursday, we decided to go to Mass at St. Martin's in Louisville. The rest of us were wearing what we had worn to school, but Sophie was filthy from playing outside so I told her to change clothes. This is what she picked out. Totally inappropriate for the weather, but at least she has taste:

Saturday was a gorgeous day for our first round of ball games. The kids were so incredibly excited!

Sophie did pretty well. She stayed on the field most of the game and got a great hit off the tee. I'm not sure she'll last the whole season, but at least the first game was a success!

Of course, Andrew was ecstatic to be back on the field. He lives for baseball. We moved him up to the 9-10 year old minors division this year. He's about 8 months too young, but he's so big for his age and so dedicated that we thought it might challenge him to work harder (not to mention keep him from hurting someone with his line drives). He did a super job and I think we made the right choice.

Aidan and his friends also moved up this year, from the coach pitch league to the peewee league that uses machine-pitched balls. Aidan has waffled back and forth during practices about whether or not he even liked baseball. His first game changed his mind. He got to bat twice and got a hit both times. The first time he got out at second but his next time around he scored a point for his team. He ran off the field with his arms pumping. So, since both the boys' teams won and Sophie didn't lay down in the middle of the field we considered it a successful day at the park. We came home to dye Easter eggs before church.

After dinner, we got dressed in our Easter finest and headed to the Easter Vigil Mass. After Mass, we tucked the kids in and prepared for the Easter bunny. For the first year in my children's lives, we were able to hide Easter eggs outside because the weather was so nice.
After hunting eggs, we got dressed and headed to do Easter lunch with our families.

It's going to be a busy spring!
