Memorial Weekend
I'm very late on this post, but we had a wonderfully busy Memorial Day Weekend (and week after!) After a productive yard sale, we went to the annual Strawberry Festival in Starlight, Indiana. The food was amazing as always. Sophie won a toy playing games and Aidan won a hanging basket for me. Unfortunately, the weather was HOT and we didn't stay very long.
After dinner, we took the kids and headed over to the German American Club to celebrate an engagement. Sauerkraut balls, German music, German beer and dancing - hard to go wrong there. I loved watching Aidan and Sophie cut a rug, especially during the duck dance and Hokey Pokey. Andrew was too cool to participate now that he's in third grade.
On Sunday evening, we took the kids and some friends and went to Abbey Road on the River. It's a huge national Beatles tribute festival. The kids loved listening to music and dancing, but they especially loved going for pizza afterwards.
On Monday, we participated in New Albany's Memorial Day services. Andrew and Aidan helped lay the American Legion Auxiliary's wreath at the VFW and again at the New Albany War Memorial.
After going home to cool off for a bit, we went to a cookout at Mom's house. Sophie really enjoyed her food, while the boys enjoyed playing in the yard.
This coming weekend is Sophie's dance recital. Sophie was so tired on Wednesday that she fell asleep on the way to rehearsal.
She perked right up when it was time to practice on the stage, however!
Today we finally got around to picking strawberries.
Mmmm...on my list tomorrow is making strawberry jam, drying strawberries, and eating strawberries!
