At the beginning of July, Andrew served his first Latin Mass very unexpectedly. He'd been dying to be a server and waited not-so-patiently for his First Communion in April so that he could start learning how. Fr. Paul returned to St. Martin's as pastor this summer, and a few weeks ago Tony decided it would be a good time to start taking Andrew to the Tridentine Mass after our regular Mass at St. Anthony just to get used to the flow of things. Surprise, surprise - Fr. Paul needed a server so Andrew was suited up and told to "follow Joe". I missed his first serving experience!
Well, things got busy in July with the play and it was almost impossible to make the noon Mass. But this past Sunday, Fr. Paul was officially installed as the pastor of St. Martin's. We (especially Tony)are thrilled to have him back in town, even if the parish and tribunal are going to keep him busy. At any rate, the Archbishop of Louisville came to install Fr. Paul at an earlier Mass, but stayed for the Latin Mass. Tony and Andrew were honored to serve.
I survived the long Mass without having to take Sophie out screaming, and I even heard the majority of the Archbishop's homily. All in all, it goes in the score book as a win. Andrew was SO proud and the Archbishop said he couldn't believe it was only his second time serving.
Sophie and Aidan were just glad for the cookies at the reception!
