Saint Theodora Guerin Awards

This year, the Archdiocese of Indianapolis awarded the Saint Theodora Excellence in Education Award. The process was changed this year from how it has been awarded in the past. Each principal nominated a teacher at their school, and the teacher was then supposed to complete a (lengthy) application and essay. I was so honored that my principal asked me to be St. Anthony's nominee this year. In December, I went to Indy to interview with a panel of people selected by the Office of Catholic Education. I feel blessed to have been chosen as one of the eight award recipients. Today, there was a luncheon with the Archbishop where the eight of us received our awards. Of course, the first picture is of Sophie in her new outfit for meeting the Archbishop.
Here I am, receiving my award from the Archbishop:

One of the other recipients of the award was Mrs. Jacobi, a former high school teacher of mine. I was honored to be receiving the same award as such a great teacher!

I was able to invite five other people to attend the luncheon with me besides my principal. I was so excited that two of my friends and colleagues who wrote letters of recommendation for me were able to find substitutes and come with me! Of course, some of my biggest fans attended as well, including Dad who's behind the camera in all the pictures.
Luckily, we made it home safely (after a quick stop in Edinburgh for more pink clothes). We seem to be having a repeat of the windstorm from September this evening!
