Kentucky State Fair

The Kentucky State Fair opened last Thursday and runs through tomorrow. Most years, we try to make it over at least twice. This year, we were doing well to make it at all. Tony and I braved the event with the three kids alone on Friday evening, and they were all very well behaved. We had a great time and are sorry we won't make it back before it ends.

One thing the boys always look forward to is "Safety Town". This year, Andrew was too tall. He took the news very well, and Aidan was quite excited that being short actually worked to his advantage.A new display was an inflated fire safety house. Of course, we had to wait in line forever because the boys wanted to go twice.
Sophie was in a great mood, and other than wanting to be held she was a very patient fair-goer.
My favorite exhibit at the fair is the cake decorating competition. Aidan found one with a train on it - I won't be making that for his next birthday!
This really cool wedding cake entry was from Jeanna's Louisville Cake and Candy Company. Jeanna made my wedding cake from a picture I took of a cake I fell in love with at the fair many years ago.
No trip to the fair is complete without visiting the animals. Aidan liked the pigs, but the miniature horses were his favorite. He asked if we could take one home and keep it in the basement.
Tony had to wait outside of the animal displays, thanks to a terrible allergy attack.
Before we left, we all enjoyed our favorite fair treat. Tony chose the pork chop sandwich (and a corn dog), and the boys picked cotton candy. Blue for Andrew, pink for Aidan.
My must have fair food? A funnel cake.
Sigh. Until next year....
