Baseball and Other Loose Ends...

This post is mostly about all things baseball...with two exceptions:

1. Mother's Day. Somehow, I managed to never get around to posting about Mother's Day! Guess I was too busy relaxing. After Mass, we went to a great brunch at a local restaurant. We make a good looking crew, and I'm very blessed. I was also gifted with roses, a strawberry planter (Aidan's idea - we tried to grow strawberries the traditional way last year and failed), some Bath and Body Works, and a new book to read.
2. The first grade zoo trip. I look forward to this trip every year, but more so this year because Andrew is a first grader! It almost didn't happen - it was rescheduled once because of the flooding and severe storms in April. We ended up having a great (although HOT) day. We always start with a private educational class before running amok in the zoo. Here's Andrew petting a hedgehog. We are so lucky to live near the Louisville Zoo and I can't rave enough about all their programs.
And, I guess, a third exception - take time to pick flowers for Mommy.

So, this past weekend was all about baseball. We started Friday evening with Boy Scout night at the Louisville Bats. This is a great event - there's kid friendly activities outside the stadium, a parade of all the Boy Scout troops, followed by a Bats game. Unfortunately, Andrew had a make-up baseball game so he couldn't parade with his Cub Scouts. This was Aidan's first opportunity to participate and he was excited, which means I got to parade with him.

Here we are before the game, making friends with various mascots. Sophie chose the zoo's polar bear.

Aidan was fond of Catfish Louie from Friends of the Waterfront. What???

Here I am, parading with the boy scouts. Aidan's so proud! Here's Aidan with Grandma, after the parade:
And with me!
I took Aidan, his friend Jackson, and Sophie on the carousel. Sophie was determined to ride the blue bunny. We were fine until the ride actually moved. Then she started screaming for Grandma and trying to climb up my neck. She said "I no go round no more!" and as we exited, she informed grandma "I no like it." Here I am trying not to lose my grip as she uses me like a jungle gym.
Tony and Andrew arrived around the seventh inning stretch and got to watch the end of the game and the fireworks.
Saturday morning was about more local baseball. It was Little League parade day, and it was rainy. Tony dropped of the boys while my mom, Sophie and I picked a spot along the route to watch before Sophie's dance class. Sophie loved the parade and shouted, "I see my bubby!"
Here's Andrew's float:
And Aidan - he's the pirate looking straight at the camera.
Finally, today was the letter people parade for kindergarten. Aidan wanted to be "e", who exercises. I'm not the most crafty mom, but he looked okay. He was also carrying my hand weights and said he was worn out by the time they made it around the school!
