Happy Thanksgiving!!

The past several years, my school has taken Wednesday off for part of Thanksgiving break. Since Tony was off as well and we weren't hosting the holiday, we decided to start on our Christmas decorating. Sophie is at a great age for her first Christmas - much better than the boys were for theirs. She was into everything, especially "helping" with the lights (which consisted of shaking them, yelling at them, and hitting them on the floor). We managed to get two trees put up this year. Last year, we had just finished the new family room and I was throwing the tree in with about two days to spare. This year, we decided to put one in the family room and one in the living room. We got them both up and lit on Wednesday, but saved the rest of the decorating for Friday morning.
I think we started a new Wednesday before Thanksgiving tradition - turkey in the crockpot and side dishes in the oven for our "leftovers", and pizza for dinner while decorating.
On Thanksgiving, we went to my Aunt Linda's for lunch and Tony's mom's for dinner. Here's Sophie all decked out and modeling her new red shoes. She absolutely loves shoes...oddest thing for a ten month old!

The family Thanksgiving shot. I'm not too sure about Sophie's expression, but the rest of us look okay!

Sophie says, "Bring on the turkey! I've got four whole teeth for the occasion!". She was in heaven - we try to give her table food when we can, but our schedule is so crazy that she mostly ends up with little toddler baby food meals because we only cook a sit down meal about twice a week.
Here are the five "big kid" cousins on my side of the family. I interrupted their dessert to take their picture because they were actually sitting still.

And here are the proud grandmas with the two newest Courtney cousins - Sophie at ten months and baby William at just one week old. They will quickly learn how to defend themselves from the other five, I'm sure!

We ran home with enough time for a quick nap for the boys and for me to put the sweet potato cassarole in the oven to bake. Then we headed to Tony's mom's house, where Tony was put in charge of carving the turkey. Sophie was studying him to make sure it was done correctly!
Today (Friday), Tony had to go to work at eleven. Andrew made us breakfast when we got up (a secret kindergarten recipe for apple pizza). Then we put ornaments on the trees. Tony headed to work and the kids and I went with mom to see Sister Mary Adolph at the Nazareth Home where she's doing rehab. I hate that she has to be there, but it was much quicker to visit her in Louisville than Bardstown!
Sophie has been really clingy lately and wants me over everyone else - Miss Mommy's girl. I always wanted that with the boys and never got it. Now that I am the preferred parent, I wish she'd diversify a little. At any rate, she seems to cry no matter who she goes to, so I was a little worried about handing her off to Sister. Turns out, they must be kindred souls. Sophie sat on Sister's lap the entire visit and even reached for her twice as we were trying to leave.

We're headed to Providence's alumni association 's Santa Breakfast in the morning, so look forward to either some cute pictures or some of a screaming Sophie!
