A Quick Update

It's been a little while since I've posted anything, so here are some quick family updates. Aidan is now playing indoor soccer. We thought we'd finished for the year, but the YMCA was short players for the indoor league and called to ask if Aidan would want to play for another six weeks. The price was right, so we said, "why not?" I forgot my camera last weekend, so I'll get some pictures up Saturday. Sophie has recovered nicely from her black eye and is back to her usual tricks (and some new ones, as well). She crawls everywhere, but likes the dog's crate - whether or not the dog is in it. She can also pull up on furniture, which she thinks is a great trick. It took her forever to learn to crawl, but she's going to be walking in no time. We are also finally making progress into some table foods. It's been a struggle because her teeth are so late coming in - she still only has three, all on the bottom. She eats lots of applesauce and mashed potatoes! Two weeks ago I mentioned that I had a glucose screen done (which caused an allergic reaction, if you'll remember!) I had some bad scores on a health screen and when I took the results to my doctor, along with other random complaints I had, he ordered some tests. The results are in - I have both hyperthyroidism and hypoglycemia. I am now and probably forever more on thyroid medication and a low-carb diet with lots of small meals for the blood sugar dropping. I have been on this track now since last Friday, and I actually can already see a difference. Lots of common problems that I had been putting up with apparently all equal out to symptoms of thyroid problems. So, not great news that I have health issues, but wonderful that they are being treated and I am feeling so much better (when I didn't really know I was feeling bad to begin with)!
While I was putting away laundry in my room the other day, Sophie decided she wanted to pull books off her shelves. I asked Aidan to entertain her, and his plan was to read her books instead. I went in to check on them because they were both so quiet. For an avid reader and teacher, this picture makes me so happy!
I promise to try to do better on keeping up! It's actually nice that we've had a little reprieve in our schedule and I don't have anything to write about!
