Bruiser
I knew this was going to be a crazy week. We have PTS conferences, four baseball practices, a visit to the funeral home and a funeral, school play practice, my major paper due Friday and the kindergarten Mass. So today was supposed to be the "normal" day of the week. Until lunchtime, anyway. I had recess duty along with a kindergarten teacher. Everything was going smoothly until one of my first graders came up with a goose egg and road rash from falling. He was screaming and crying. I don't do well with blood, but I was managing. Then we heard more screaming, and up comes Andrew. He was covered with dirt and bleeding from the nose and mouth. He had apparently been bending over to hike a football and another kiddo jumped/landed on top of him (not intentionally), pushing him face first into the asphalt. I walked both boys inside. To make a long story short, Andrew's nose was swelling and looked interesting enough that our principal found someone to cover my class while I took him to the doctor. He has a chipped tooth now, and we're not sure about the nose. It looks really bad, but was too swollen to xray efficiently, plus Andrew wasn't really complaining about it as much as his teeth and gums. So, we wait a day or two and check back on the nose. He also busted both upper and lower lips and has pretty scrapes on his nose and forehead. Here's his smiling face:
To add insult to injury, on the way to the doctor's office, I got pulled over for speeding. I was cursing, Andrew was crying again because he thought we were in trouble and I was sure I was going to get a big fat ticket that I totally deserved. I guess God was watching out for us, or I had the best story the cop had heard in awhile, because he took one look at Andrew, informed me to remember that I wasn't an ambulance, and sent me on my way. I am now sitting down to a big bowl of popcorn and an adult beverage, planning to go to bed way early. Good thing we hadn't scheduled Easter pictures yet! We'll see what tomorrow brings!

It makes him look less like his dad... which probably constitutes an improvement! hahaha. Seriously, hope "leroy" is ok.
He's healing nicely, which means he's back to looking like daddy. Rotten luck, I suppose :)
