We got up early Friday morning to head to the Children's Musuem. Since the kiddos had bathed the night before, they watched cartoons while Tony and I got ready. Sophie found her a place to call her own.

We intended to eat at the hotel, but all that was available was the $13 buffet. Since it was a Friday during Lent, we kind of figured we wouldn't get out money's worth out of a meatless buffet. We opted for Cracker Barrel instead, which was fine by me. We got out of there cheaper and healthier. I had my HGS breakfast: oatmeal with brown sugar and bananas and a blueberry muffin. Yummm.
From there, we headed off to the museum. Here are a collection of our memories:

Aidan's favorite exhibit: the Rueben Wells locomotive.

Sophie wrestling crocodiles and Aidan serving coffee in the new Egypt exhibit:

The temporary exhibit was the Barbie exhibit. I was so excited that it was still there - I was
(and still am) Barbie obsessed. I played with them well into junior high and still to this day like to dress dolls. I have to say that it aged me quite a bit to see this Barbie house:

Nothing, but nothing, says old like seeing your toys in glass cases on display in a musuem. I walked through the exhibit going, "I have that one....and that one...and those...". Wow.
After aging me a little, we headed to the Bob the Builder exhibit. It is also a temporary one, but it was wonderful.

Andrew took this picture for Papa:

Each year during Christmas and Spring break, the musuem transforms their main staircase into a slide. While Tony and Sophie went to get our cooler and a table in the cafeteria, the boys and I slid into lunch.

After lunch, we hit the dinosaurs.

After the dinosaurs, we saw the Sesame Street planetarium show. It was great, and even Sophie loved it. But by the time we made it back upstairs, she had enough.

One thing we didn't do this year was the carousel. The line was really long and the boys didn't want to wait. Fine with me...we were able to see more that way. Once Sophie woke up, we went to the playscape area, especially for children under five.

Andrew played very nicely in the playscape area - he and Tony built a box.

We left the musuem and drove the boys past the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which they loved. That may be a museum for future spring breaks. We had a wonderful time, and it was great way to wrap up spring break. The next posts will be about Easter, and baseball, baseball, baseball!
