Aidan's first day

Well, he's waffled all summer. But when it came right down to it, you can see by the expression on his face how exicted he was this morning! He was so proud, and carried his backpack all over school following me around this morning until it was time to walk to the "apple building". I have a picture of myself standing in front of this apple, only 25 years ago it said "kindergarten".
At lunchtime, Aidan's teacher told me how great he did today. She did mention what a different personality he had from Andrew (I warned her!) She also said he was "quirky", which is right up her alley. He got to paint today, but not "scissor". I also heard all about a story he heard. It's definitely a different point of view. Getting Andrew to tell me anything curriculum-oriented is like pulling teeth, but he can tell me everything his friends did. Aidan, on the other hand, knew the title of the book, but couldn't remember the name of a single kid (even the ones he already knew!) We'll see what tomorrow brings as Andrew starts four-year old preschool. Meanwhile, I always forget how exhausting first graders are on the first day of school. I'm beat!
