Summer's end

Our last weekend of summer vacation was nothing Earth-shattering. We finally got Aidan's long-awaited Tae Kwon Do uniform on Friday. If he looks tired, it's because we had skipped naps and spent the day at the zoo. On Saturday, the boys had their Tae Kwon Do class in the park, followed by a picnic. The weather was gorgeous. We actually went back to the zoo again on Saturday evening.

We've spent a lot of time this summer in our garden. In the pictures, the boys are picking tomatoes, which have just now started to turn red. Now they're coming out our ears. Earlier, we had more cucumbers, squash, and zucchini than we knew what to do with. Unfortunately, some kind of varmint got to the vines. Now we're left with watermelons, peppers, and lots of tomatoes. If you look closely below, you'll see that Aidan's not just picking, he's checking the quality of the produce.

The bags are packed, our special muffins are made for breakfast, clothes are laid out, lesson plans are finished. Aidan has been so excited about starting school tomorrow, but now he's back to saying he's not going. I guess we'll see what the morning brings. It's finally time for...
(Isn't this a nice flag outside my classroom??? Thanks, Aunt Connie!)
