April Fool's

Sophie has been wonderful in her big girl bed until this weekend. Maybe it's her idea of an April Fool's Day joke. We've also decided she might be ready to start potty training. She woke up around ten on Thursday night, toddled out to where we were watching tv with a diaper and wipes and said "I yucky." (She wasn't.) She was pretty wet, but it was no excuse. After that one incident of getting up, she's been nearly impossible to keep in her bed. Maybe now that the weather's finally getting warmer, she be more worn out at night and will sleep better. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but won't hold my breath. Saturday was opening day at Clarksville Little League. I am so glad. I love baseball season. I love being at the ball park and visiting, I love warm weather and sitting outside. And, I like to watch baseball (just not on television). Both boys played Saturday, and Andrew's team won. Aidan's playing coach pitch and they don't really keep score. Andrew was chosen by his coach during the draft mostly because of his ability as a catcher. He did a great job, and also managed to get a hit.
I can't beleive how grown up Aidan looks in his uniform!
Aidan got several hits and threw two balls to the first baseman for outs. In fact, Andrew's coach from last year is now Aidan's assistant coach and was teasing Andrew mercilessly. He asked, "Drew, how come your brother can do what I couldn't get you to do in three seasons?"
Saturday evening, Tony's mom watched Sophie and Aidan while Tony and I went to see "Jesus Christ Superstar" at Derby Dinner Playhouse. We love the show, partially because we were both in it at Providence. DDP put a slightly different spin on their interpretation, but we still enjoyed the evening. Andrew spent the night at Mom and Dad's, because he and Dad went out at the crack of dawn to watch wild turkeys. To each their own - Andrew had a great time.

The weather today was gorgeous!!!! Finally, we had an all of a sudden warm up. It was sunny, breezy and 70s. My windows are open, and instead of writing the paper I need to work on, I spent the day outside with the kids. We even had a picnic lunch.
Sophie got a ride-on toy for her birthday from my father and Debbie. She acts afraid of it in the house, but when I took it outside she rode it all over the yard. The batteries are running low, so she was moving at a VERY slow speed. She was cracking me up because she'd try to chase after Aidan, yelling "Atch out, Aidan! In my way!" Of course, he didn't even need to walk fast to get away.
At one point while I was talking on the phone and enjoying the weather, Aidan came to tattle that Sophie was in the playhouse sitting on the table. This is what I found:
She's on three stacked chairs on top of a table. Her head's on the roof. When I told her to get down, she said, "I can't! Help me!" When I pulled her down, the chairs tipped and she said, "Careful with me, mommy". She's too funny.

Friday night we went to a fish fry, so we missed April Fool's Day dinner. I promised the boys I'd cook them one today. It wasn't as great as last year, but it turned out okay. We ate 'dessert' first - a torte. (Baked spaghetti in a spring form pan). It would have looked better if I'd had a little more cheese to use as 'icing'.
After 'dessert', we had 'dinner' - fish sticks and mashed potatoes with gravy. (Twix bars melted and rolled in toasted coconut with ice cream and caramel).
Happy April Fool's Weekend!
